for everyone commenting about the fat- i was eating 3-5x the daily recommended amount of fat every day. i was loading up on avocados, nuts, bacon, chicken thighs, and TONS of sunflower seed butter, everything cooked in butter, everything topped with olive oil. TRUST me. i was eating MORE FAT THAN I EVER WANNA EAT AGAIN IN MY LIFE, that was not the issue.

the first week of keto sucks, but it takes about 4 weeks for you body to get used to a high fat low carb diet & for your digestion to change, it takes more than a week to even get into ketosis. So you absolutely cannot judge this diet after doing it poorly for a week.

If you’re hungry then eat! Eat as much as you want - carbs and sugars are your problem and why you’re craving them so stay away from those. Your body needed to detox more or less and switch to a new way of functioning. And you have to give it more than a week, seriously. Check out Keto Connect on UZvid for lots on keto, working out, and different macro experiments!

I love your videos so much. I don't want to leave hate. I just want to point out a few things about the keto diet. I have been off and on the keto diet for quite a while now and something I've learned is that you need to branch out when it comes to food. Your breakfast's were perfect. The only problem was the fact that you just kept eating chicken and lettuce. You are allowed to have beef on this diet (it has to be 80 20). You can have more veggies than just lettuce and spinach. You are actually allowed to eat berries on this diet (blueberries, blackberries, rasberries, and strawberries). Peanut butter is actually one of the best things you can eat during the keto diet. But anyway, if you were to go on Pinterest and look up some easy keto recipes, you won't feel as hungry or as sick all of the time beacause there are recipes that have enough food and the correct food that will fill you up. Like I said, I love you and your videos. I just wanted to point out some things. I don't want to hate on you because you did give your honest opinion and you did try. I think you could do some more research and try this again when you are more prepared about what you can have. Love you!!

I'm on this diet. You needed electrolytes to keep yourself going. Also, while doing keto, you should be having more fat than protein. Alot of people do that wrong. I feel like it depends on your body type. My whole family does this diet and we've all lost weight and we all feel fine. ( we've found things to replace the things we like )

You can actually drink diet sodas, eat all kind of berries, and u should eat more fat and calories. Drinking coffee is extremely important if ur a coffee addict so add cream and stevia to ur coffee. U can eat salads to fill u up too. U made a extreme keto diet that most people never do anyway..

A. You had not enough FAT B. Not Enough CALORIES C. Not Enough ELECTROLYTES D. You had no OILS to speak of. E. Working out while adjusting to a new diet from switching to carbs to ketosis is STUPID!! I have lost 88 lbs. from this diet and reversed my type 2 diabetes so the diet and have dropped 10 pant sizes.... IT WORKS. UZvidr Abby Pollock who is a non ketoer did it for a month and had great success. Furthermore, you won't get adapted in 1 week, it takes at least 3 to 4 weeks or if you are doing it, your way, probably 6 to 8. I suggest next time following KetoConnect, Jason Wittrock, Ketovangelist, Keto Savage, Keto Counterculture or GoodyBeats to name a few. Huffpost won't tell you shit, because they all believe in the low fat vegan dogma. Congrats on your low calorie low fat low carb and hardly any protein for 1 week. The fact you got 7.5k dislikes tells me you should have done your research before starting the LIFESTYLE like a responsible person would do.

This is NOT keto and is a complete misrepresentation of how it works and what it is. First of all you dont even know what it is? It is not high protein, it is medium protein. This is so irresponsible to go in without researching or looking at what you can eat. You totally could have been eating more (the blueberries! Berries are keto. Its 20> net carbs a day. This was unsafe and irresponsible, if you were feeling hungry and sick instead of forcing yourself to work out you should have taken a break and let your body adjust. One week will NEVER get you to the point of ketosis. You also weren't eating enough fat in heavy cream, avocado, cheese, your meats! This was dangerous and treated Keto as something unresearched and a quick fad rather than a medically supported diet. This diet was once the standard epilepsy treatment prior to modern medicine and is still used for those who aren't getting effective help from medication. This video is so misinformed and dangerous.

Apparently those symptoms are from the Keto flu as your body adjusts to burning fat for energy instead of the sugar/carbs it's accustomed to burning. You're changing everything your body is used to energy wise. When your body enters ketosis, which can take a while, those symptoms are supposed to disappear. I tried doing it twice and both times, after the first day I was off it. I think it has been suggested though that if you're someone who struggles/has struggled with eating disorders, either stay away from it or enter into it gradually, you don't want to trigger yourself into unhealthy eating. I prefer eating what I like in moderation. For some people it may be wonderful and for others it may be a disaster. It's not about the aesthetic though, it's about the health benefits. If it benefits you health-wise, great and if it doesn't, don't force it on yourself for the aesthetic.

Thank you for not showing before and after results. It’s socially responsible, and there are so many people who look up to you. I did the Keto diet a few years ago for probably about a year. Yes I lost a lot of weight; however, I would drink liquor to fall asleep. Not good. A cheat day helps, but honestly you are right it’s not worth it. As soon as I stopped I gain half of that weight back. Just be healthy, happy, and whole!❤️

The fats you were eating were good fats but you also need cheeses, cream cheese, heavy cream in your coffee, and those fats are the fats that keep you satisfied, especially the first week. It’s also a “low carb diet” so you can eat zucchini and squash because those are the best types of carbs. So the fats you were eating were okay but the first few weeks you’re supposed to mix in some jerky, cheese, and “unhealthy” snacks. The thighs are more protein based than fat so they won’t keep you satisfied to make up for the carbs and sweets you’re not eating.

IM SO SORRY YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE BUT THIS IS MY MOMS LIFESTYLE I SEE IT EVERYDAY AND GIRL...1st off, once you’re adjusted to keto you can have BERRIES in moderation 2nd there are keto protein bars (you can get them at Costco or there’s quest bars) and there’s keto chocolate and you can have creamer just without sugar. PEOPLE-- This is a terrible representation of the keto diet, keto=ketosis, as in- you're not hungry even with not eating for a long time. This video actually helped me. I am always confused when I wake up starving yet the sight of food makes me want to throw up. My abdomen starts to hurt and it feels like I'm being stabbed or stepped on by 10 people at the same time in the same area. Turn's out I don't eat enough. I skip breakfast and lunch because of this issue, I'm fasting constantly. It is hard to get out of this routine if you have done it without knowing it for as long as I have.

Look 10 minutes into the video when Gabbie is listing off the foods she has grabbed for her keto diet. At about 10:19 after listing off lettuce, she turns to list off another item. The item suspiciously looks like a jar of peanut butter. But the next clip then shows her holding a jar of olives.. Very interesting! My guess is that Gabbie thought peanut butter was keto but learned later it had too much sugar to fit her needs.

Man, look at all these defensive ketoers(is that a word?)As a dietitian and someone who has studied diet out of school for over 10 years, keto does NOT work for everyone. I suggest to anyone that is defensive over the keto diet, to look up the dangerous side effects. It is absolutely a fad diet. I understand the origin, so don’t try and school me, but when everyone is doing it, it is called a fad. I guarantee in a few years people will discover that it’s not as healthy as it was once thought to be. That’s how all diets work. I don’t believe any restrictive diet is healthy. Our bodies have evolved and adapted to eating every single whole food there is. Once again, I am against every “fad” diet out there. Now, if something works for you, then okay. Everyone’s body chemistry is different. But there’s a reason why some people struggle and some people don’t, and it’s not because they’re all doing it wrong so get off your high horse. Rant over. I actually appreciate this video.

I had such high hopes for this video.... And it's definitely not about keto... More like a starving yourself diet. I've been keto for over a year and a half and down over 120 pounds. You can't just do keto for a week. It takes at least 6 weeks to get fat adapted. The first thing you have to do is get through the carb cravings/withdrawals which make you ravenously hungry. It goes away along with the other keto flu symptoms you experienced. This is one million percent not keto.

Honey, this is low carb but its NOT keto. You had way too much protein and not enough fat. You should have like 70% fat 20% protein and 5%carbs. Your protein and fat were reversed so you weren't getting the right fuel. Also taking magnesium gives you belly cramps and makes food go right through you so...

i’m on a really chilled out keto diet and it’s totally fine. in the morning I have a cup of orange juice and a banana. it’s fine. fruits are fine bc they’re natural sugar. there’s a lot of substitutes, like low carb pasta ordered online, replacing chips with cheese crackers (not cheezits, things called cheese whisps) like I always make grilled cheese, this REALLY amazing low carb mac n cheese. I get a lot of cheese stuff. if you don’t like cheese it’ll hurt you. there’s low carb mixes for pancakes/waffles, low carb bread, etc. there are a lot of different things! the way you were feeling was how I felt when I started after my back surgery so I had to stop. i’ve made low carb pumpkin cheesecake, too. it really helps!

You should try again, but prepare with better research next time. How much salt were you consuming? You need to replenish your salt frequently as your body will flush it more rapidly when you’re on keto (not producing as much insulin). Same with potassium and magnesium (you seemed to have those two covered with supplements and avocado) but more salt would’ve helped you through the crappy hangover feeling for sure. Replenish those electrolytes! Also, peanut butter is totally allowed, just make sure you get the good stuff that’s just basically peanuts and salt.

My mom does Keto. She has lost a lot of weight. She has this app that helps calculate the carbs, fat and sugar. She can eat a certain amount of carbs and has a carb day ( 8 hours to eat whatever you want) You’re not restricted to just meat. My mom also has protein shakes, bars that taste like cookies and cream, and carb free pasta. So, if you wanna do this for a long time, it doesn’t have to be super restrictive.

The keto diet is not zero carbs. Technically, ketosis can be achieved when the ratio of fat to carbs-plus-protein is 2:1, or more. One can still eat carbs and protien, just eat more fat than the other two combined. Ketosis should not be a lifestyle, though. Diet variation is the key to good health and happy living. Sugar is the devil from a health perspective. A diet rich in sugar, and foods that act like sugar, causes a condition called lactic acidosis, which is "the" mechanism for over 80 diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. I suggest everyone follow Dr. Darren Schmidt right here on You Tube. He's a great resource, along with Dr. Berg and Dr. Bergman. Excellent doctors, all of them. Ketosis is a very healthy strategy to lose weight, fight disease, and boost the immune system. It should not be a lifestyle, though. Cheers.

I do the Keto diet on occasion, it really works but its super hard to do. i lose weight really fast on this diet while still eating large amounts while still feeling and looking super healthy. It's a super hard diet to stick to if you love carbs (bread and other stuff)

Been on a keto diet for 3 weeks, lost 1.5 stone n feeling great. 1 week isn't long enough to actually be properly in ketosis (so your body would have barely switched to using fat instead of carbs) don't be put off by this video every diet is a process 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I´ve done this twice, for two weeks each time and even though I also hated it.. I had a completely diferent experience than you.. XD Here´s a bible of my keto experience: First of all, I was sooo full all the time sometimes i couldn´t even finished my meals, wich never ever ever happens to me. I also was very very energetic, so my workouts were more powerful and neither my head or my stomach hurted at all. However, I also had a though time falling asleep or just turning off, in general. Near the end of each perior of the diet, I had heartburn too, and kind of a sour or bitter taste in my mouth aaaall the time, wich was awful cause my snacks were almonds and peanuts and since neither of those take a bitter taste away, and I could eat any sweets, I just suffered in silence :( I also had this like.. hot feeling inside and I was really thirsty, I was sweating a lot, and my breath was not the best. Emotionally I felt like I was heavy and also, disgusting cause I´m not used to eating as much meat and fat. And the worst part was that I was pissed all the time XD I thing I may have kind of an adicction to sugar, because I was absolutely furious that I couldn´t have any. Not a fruit or a cookie or anything (I also had my period in the mean time, so I wanted chocolate so badly that I literally cryied about it XD) So I was feeling disgusting inside, had absolutely the worst mood ever, but physically and health wise I was great. Now, I had to say, that I looked AMAZING! My weist got smaller and my abs started to pop out, my arms, legs and back looked more toned and my love handles and muffin top were small as they´ve ever been. (my boobs nearly dissapeared tho XD) So it obviously does work, it doesn´t kill you if you´re not as emotional about sugar as me XD and it does lower your body fat percentage, cause I got measure with the little things that .. measure fat beafore and after, and each time I gained muscle and lost a lot of body fat and visceral fat. The sad part was, I yo-yoed back.. kind of quickly :( When I ended, I got so anxious about sugar and carbs that they were all I wanted to eat. I didn´t do it, at first, but for an entire week, the food that I haven´t eaten was all I could think about and I got baaaaad anxiety about it untill I finally gave in and broke (badly) my reagular meal plan. So does it work? YES! Did it made me look good and lower my fat percentage? YES! Did it make me unhealthy or sick.. Not at all! Would I do it again? FUCK NO XD I don´t think it´s right for me, Worked for my body, but not for my head, so it´s just not worth it XD

Keto is so dumb ! Most people fall off of it because your body is meant to have carbs . Yes you can be on it for a while but most people don’t last 🤷🏻‍♀️ I mean does it even sound good to be on a high fat diet ?

Keto isn’t supposed to be a diet. It’s a lifestyle change and you can’t do something for a week and pretend like you’re an expert on it. Didn’t like it? That’s cool. You don’t have to do it. But don’t negate everyone’s successes who have changed the way they eat and it had a positive impact on their health by saying it’s trash after trying it for a week and not doing your research.

Wow... this is absolutely amazing! You have millions of people looking to you to give them perspective on a diet; more importantly a way of nutrition and you upload this embarrassment. You did not take on a Ketogenic Diet for a week. You did not do your research. Keto is High Fat-LowCarb-MODERATE PROTEIN. You absolutely need electrolytes(salt/sodium,magnesium and potassium). You have to track your macros for every meal and for the day as a whole. You have to find the ratios of fat/carb and protein that work for you personally. It’s not a one size fits all diet. The reason it’s called the Keto diet is because it’s a way to cause your body to go into ketosis which is your bodies ability to use fat instead of sugar(glucose) for fuel, not just for body for the brain as well. If your fat isn’t high enough... there will be problemsZ. If your carbs are too high or you cut them too fast... it will get very uncomfortable. If you eat too much protein your body will convert those to glucose (glyconeogenisis). You can’t just cut out carbs, eat some fat and load up on skinless chicken breasts and call that Keto, it’s not, not even close. Keto isn’t a restriction diet except when it concerns carbs/sugars. You absolutely can eat sweet things... just as long as they are sweetened with non-glycemic, natural sugar alternatives ( ie Monk Fruit sweetener or Stevia). One of the best things about Keto are the sweet treats. I eat amazing sweets every day as an essential part of my Keto lifestyle ( cheesecake, chocolate, muffins, lemon curd, the list goes on and on. It’s so sad you put yourself through that because you either were too lazy to properly prepare or you really had a mission to disprove Keto. It’s really irresponsible with the huge following you have. It also sucks you haven’t given yourself the chance to really benefit from it. ( Its very hard to experience the real and true effects of being in ketosis in the span of a week.) I’m with some of your subscribers: make another video after you’ve done some research. There are plenty of your fellow UZvidrs who can give you all the tools to do Keto properly. ( watch Dr. Berg or Thomas deLauer or best LeAnn Vogel). It’s actually not a hard way of eating if you do it right. The benefits are enormous. Keto can be tough at the beginning... but not on the level you represented in this vlog.... unless you do what you did... which is not Keto. Anyone who has taken on this diet ( a way of eating not a crash weight loss solution) and done it with consciousness will attest to its near miraculous benefits for all aspects of one’s health.
