Russell Westbrook MONSTER Triple-Double | January 10, 2019

Russell Westbrook recorded his 12th triple-double of the season (24 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 24 assists). The 24 assists ties the most in a triple-double in NBA history, also done by Isiah Thomas on Feb. 7, 1985 at Washington and Rajon Rondo on Oct. 29, 2010 vs. New York.

But all curry can do is score.KD maybe because he can play defense, but curry? That man is a scorer and nothing more. The end. Cant play defense, cant get rebounds, and is not as good at playmaking as Westbrook. Sooo...

Russell Westbrook
How could people hate on this man? Boy plays hard every night. He's loyal, balling with passion and energy every single game. Yeah, he's not a good shooter but he always find other ways to impact the game and contribute in other ways. A great leader, playmaker, defensive player and most importantly, a great man. Stop hatin' on greatness. He's one of the best NBA players, of all time.

Jabrie Anderson
That th dumbest shit I have ever heard. That is like saying KD is worried more about scoring then actually winning. He scores buckets but doesnt help any of his other players score. How many assists does he average? The only reason why he is winning is because of the other MVP on his team and Klay thompson. Well if we use your logic at least.

Like the passing from Russ but watching the game it hurt my eyes seeing the shots he was taking. Like halfway through the clock pull up three, brick. That's all Russ was doing after the 3rd quarter. Yeah sure he got a lot of assists, but his defence late game wasn't that good at all. He shot them out of the game which is sad to see because he is giving 110% all the time (on offence at least). If pg, grant and Ferguson got more touches near the end the game may have turned out different.

Great performance, but it's concerning that after all these years Russ still doesn't know his ideal play style for optimal team success. This is it Russ. Control the tempo, shoot less, and pass more. OKC will be even better if he handles the ball less and learns to play off the ball.

It ain't.. It's better when he's aggressive shooting all game whether u like to believe it or not last season pg wasn't good offensively as a second option that's it he was great defensively andshluld Haledon dpoy imo but honestly I can't believe someone got in Westbrook ear and made him change his whole fucking game smh it ain't gonework out in the long run him playing like this as a second option who's pass first I don't think he donteven got 1 dunk down the middle this year I domt think and pg plays just like kd on offense hedonistic use his body to score on u really

bake once again you are judging one player based off the inability for the rest of the team to get assits. Westbrook often defers the ball to Paul George to do what he wants. Still Paul George is scoring and not putting up a large assist count. With 15 seconds left on the clock when other teammates get the ball on Okc...they still have enough time to make plays yet they have proved just how incapable of playmaking they are.

Except Stockton's teams often led the league in team assists per game, and were almost always in the top 10. The Thunder have been 20th or worse in team assists in 9 out of the 11 seasons Westbrook has been with them. There's a reason Thunder are always on the bottom side of the league in team assists and last in the league in passes/game in 3 out of the last 4 years (2nd last year behind ball hogging James Harden's Rockets). Why do you think James Harden and Westbrook get the most assists individually but their teams have been bottom of the league in both assists and passes per game? A non ball hogging point guard who gets high assists numbers, like Steve Nash, John Stockton, Jason Kidd, will initiate the offense and get everybody involved, allowing everyone to make passes and plays, having everyone move around, setting off ball screens, making secondary assists, etc. Not just playing isolation/drive and kick or pick and rolls with everyone else standing around all the time while you are the only guy being allowed to make a play with the ball in order to get an assist since you have the ball in your hands all the time. That's why those point guards have had their teams often leading the league in team assists in addition to those players leading the league in assists as individuals. Point guards who often led the team in assists, such as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, also had the teams they were on leading the league in team assists. Steve Nash often led the league in assists, and the Suns were top 5 in team assists for 7 out of his 8 seasons there from 2004-2012, including #1 for 3 years in a row. The one year they weren't top 5, they were 6th in the league. Similar for John Stockton. Jason Kidd also led the league in assists several years with Phoenix, and that team was often top 5 in team assists, and sometimes #1. When Kidd went to the Nets, they became top 5 in assists right away. The year before Kidd got there, those Nets had ball hogging Stephon Marbury as their point guard and were 26th in team assists. Marbury replaced Kidd in Phoenix and Phoenix immediately fell to 11th in assists his 1st season there, 17th in the league in his 2nd season, and 24th in the league in his 3rd season. Oh and btw, Thunder in this game had 33 assists, Spurs had 38 assists. Spurs played team basketball, with players not just getting assists but secondary assists, leading to more assists for the team overall. Westbrook is a stat padding ball hog, and yes, you can be a stat padder trying to get high assists. He's a ball hogger like Marbury, but just better and even more of a ball hog.

Except Stockton and Magic's teams were often leading the league in team assists, while Westbrook's ball hogging style of play, has led to him being basically the only one on the team having the opportunity to make plays to get assists, leading to the Thunder being 20th or worse in team assists for 9 out of the 11 seasons Westbrook has played with them. They're 24th this year, and were 28th last year. They've also been dead last in the league in passes per game as a team in 3 of the past 4 seasons (2nd to last last year). Other point guards who often led the team in assists, such as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, also had the teams they were on leading the league in team assists. Steve Nash often led the league in assists, and the Suns were top 5 in team assists for 7 out of his 8 seasons there from 2004-2012, including #1 for 3 years in a row. Why do you think Westbrook and Harden, 2 of the biggest ball hogs in the history of the NBA, get tons of assists but both their teams are near the bottom of the league in assists? Speaking of Harden, you know I mentioned how Thunder are last in the league in passes per game? Guess who's 2nd to last? Yep, the Rockets with ball hogger James Harden. You know how I said the Thunder were 2nd to last in the league last year? Guess who was 1st? Yep, the Rockets with ball hogger James Harden.

+Amadou Diallo that will be what decides the game. If boogie can give them that extra push we may be in trouble. However it will also be decided based on whether or not the warriors can take care of the ball. Also russ just came off of a 44 point triple double. If his numbers look anything like that and Paul George shows up....then it may be a very close game if not a blowout Paul George had a tough night coming off of this last game but his first half of he season speaks for itself. I just know russ puts in extra work against the warriors everytime due to KD being with them. So we will see.
Amadou Diallo
Amadou Diallo Oy oldin
Jabrie Anderson the warriors have boogie and what makes me mad is that Russ will do everything to keep okc in the game but will mess up in crunch time. Plus the refs are warriors fans
Jabrie Anderson
+Amadou Diallo we don't whether or not they can best the warriors. All season last year the warriors were getting blown out by OKC. This was happening because the warriors being clumsy with the ball was exposed even more when going up against the team leading the league in forcing turnovers.
Amadou Diallo
Amadou Diallo Oy oldin
Jabrie Anderson but are they good enough to beat the warriors. No. So they aren’t good enough to win a championship
Christian Dela Pena
Compare this to Jokic's triple double today. They won and it's obviously not padded.
Jabrie Anderson
+Joel Pettit where was the stat padding on here? People talk about him stealing rebounds but he hustled for loose balls more than anybody in the opposing team. He also through very accurate passes that always set a free man up to score. Didnt see any stat padding here.
Jabrie Anderson
bake what you mean yo say is he facilitates the ball most of the time. There is nothing wrong with that when you can drop 10-24 assists. That in no way is a ball hog. Kobe was a ball hog. A ball hog does not ever lead the league in assists. It doesn't make any sense. If there are players that share the ball more often than you then they should have more assists. The reason teams like the spurs and warriors average so many assist is due to how versital each player on the team is and thei ability to make plays. It is also due to the system both coaches use. Popavich has always had a 3+ pass system and Steve Cur's system is popavich's system with a few adjustments made. He used to play for pop so it makes sense. However due to lack of playmaking ability the team has, Westbrook, pg13, and Schroder are always directing the offense. None of these role players on OKC know how and when to cut except for the Grant and Adams who is more of a star on oKC. Westbrook took a lot more shots last year, so for him to have given up half of those shot attempts and still average 20+ and a triple double is amazing. It also makes your suggestion that he ball hogs sound dumb af.

are you guys saying assists mean you're not a ball hog and you're not stat padding? Then I guess since the Thunder have been 20th or worse in team assists in 9 out of the 11 seasons Westbrook has been with them, and he's always got the highest amount of assists, he's the one not being a ball hog while his teammates are being ball hogs since they're not getting assists? Please, get past looking at the game just on the surface level and coming to conclusions like "He had 24 assists so how can he be a ball hog??" There's a reason Thunder are always on the bottom side of the league in team assists and last in the league in passes/game in 3 out of the last 4 years (2nd last year behind ball hogging James Harden's Rockets). Why do you think James Harden and Westbrook get the most assists individually but their teams have been bottom of the league in both assists and passes per game? Oh and btw, Thunder in this game had 33 assists, Spurs had 38 assists. Spurs played team basketball, with players not just getting assists but secondary assists, leading to more assists for the team overall. Westbrook is a stat padding ball hog, and yes, you can be a stat padder trying to get high assists. He's a ball hogger like Marbury, but just better and even more of a ball hog.

Cool, more assists for the guy stat padding by being a ball hog. I've even seen him getting upset at times when his teammates don't take the shot after he passes it because then he doesn't get an assist. Thunder as a team had 33 assists, Spurs had 38 assists. Spurs system of more sharing of the basketball amongst players so more players have the opportunity to make plays produces more assists as a team than Westbrook's ball hogging system of just producing assists for himself. Westbrook leads the league in assists/game, but the team ranks 25th in the league in assists/game. He also led the league last year, and the team finished 28th in the league in assists/game. How about share the ball more and allow others to make plays as well and get more assists as a team instead of stat padding yourself and ending up with less assists as a team, so low that your team has been 20th or worse in the league in assists for 9 out of your 11 seasons with them. Don't get it twisted, the OKC Thunder offense is mediocre at best and has little flow or rhythm to it with their ball hogging point guard resulting in lack of passing and getting assists as a team. They're doing well this season because they have the #1 ranked defense in the league. At the highest levels of basketball, your offense has to be far less predictable with far more ball movement, especially if you want to win the championship. Offense at the highest level of basketball (it's the NBA not AAU) requires more than just "open" shots, it requires a high level offense with good flow and rhythm. Why do you think both Paul George and Schroder are at mediocre 3P% by their standards and the Thunder as a team is ranked dead last in 3P% if they're getting so many "open" shots? Not to mention Alex Abrines and Patrick Patterson's 3P% being way down from their career averages. Cause there's no flow in the offense. This is not AAU basketball, it's not just about getting "open" shots in an offense with no flow, rhythm, or movement because of their ball hogging stat padding point guard. How a shot is created matters because you can wear the opposing team down with that, mentally and physically, not to mention the flow and rhythm it gives to an offense with ball movement and movement from the players.. Mentally because things become far less predictable and you have to be adjusting way more defensively. Physically, I don't even have to explain. I mean, look at this highlights video, how little movement there is from the team. It's comical actually to see how little movement there is, except for the occasional guy setting a pick for Westbrook. Guess which team's at the bottom of the league in passes per game? Yep, the OKC Thunder, and it's not even close. Who would've guessed, with the most ball hogging player in the league on the team? smh.

Monster statpadding. Take this L westbrick
Jabrie Anderson
Where was the stat padding? He out hustled every body on the opposing team. It even showed him grabbing rebounds in the key with 4 other men under the rim and all of them were bigger than him. Every assists he through was to an open man that got an easy shot, dunk, or lay up. You are a hater in true form alright. Glad to see okc is 3rd in the west right now. The tears must be really falling for you though. Aha

Westbrook didn't statpad bud, and even if he did, people like you would still not be able to get a guy open for a good shot to get the assist, having the energy and will to go for rebounds and put yourself at risk against centers, nor would you be able to get 10+ points, so keep hating, you will keep embarrassing yourself

are you guys saying assists mean you're not a ball hog? Oh and btw, Thunder in this game had 33 assists, Spurs had 38 assists. Spurs played team basketball, with players not just getting assists but secondary assists, leading to more assists for the team overall.

bake you are completely inaccurate. Most of the highlight passes on here were with 15+ seconds left on the shot clock. That is more than enough time to put more plays out there. He never showed any distaste toward second passes out there. People commonly say he puts his teammates in bad positions through his passes but a lot of these passes were putting players in the perfect position to score and shoot open shots or go up for open lay up/dunks. You need pay closer attention to this video if you think otherwise.

+Amadou Diallo oh and to really make sure you understand, the year before Kidd got to the Nets, they were 26th in the league in assists with the exact same coach (Byron Scott) and basically the same personnel. The only thing that changed was from ball hogging Stephon Marbury to Jason Kidd, and the Nets went from 26th to 3rd in the league, with the same coach.
ibr bak
ibr bak 2 oy oldin
+Amadou Diallo Point guards who often led the team in assists, such as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, also had the teams they were on leading the league in team assists. Different coach for Kidd, same results in terms of high team assists. Steve Nash had D'antoni, who is the same coach for the Rockets, yet the Rockets have also been 2nd to last in passing and 28th in assists/game. They were dead last in passing last year (2nd to last was OKC obviously since they have Westbrook ball hogging) and 26th in assists/game. Again, a ball dominant guard with high assists but not allowing the team to get high assists.

+Lebron West 'Biological son of Delonte West' so called "westbrick" doesnt have to score when he is responsible for 24 assists. That's a 48-72 point game right there depending on how many of his assits were for 3points. But just to make you more saltier he will give you 20+points on top of that. They lost to a team that a player that dropped 56 points. That was honestly one the performances of aldridge's career. He can not average that in 7 game series but Westbrook can average a tripledouble. So duces...

1-8 in double overtime? WestBrick at his finest. Curry is better.
Jabrie Anderson
Your crazy af....curry is a scorer. That's is the end of his description. Nothing more. Westbrook is doing it all. Although is shooting is not at a high %, he is still dropping 20+ by the end of the night. He is also grabbing 10 rebounds and 10 assists a night. 24 on this night to be exact. Curry is not putting up numbers anywhere close to that other than points which he outdoes Westbrook in. Plus Westbrook is one of the best defensive players this year and curry has never even been considered for such a title. So idk how you came to the conclusion that man is a better pointguard.

Walter Johnson Gotta give it to Nash with 2 mvps (for the time being). Same thing with Steph and Robertson, I believe that Steph will be better when his career is over but if his career ended right now, Robertson would have the greater legacy. Did you watch Stockton play? He was the best pure point to play the game. He leads the NBA in career assists by almost 4000 assists and steals by almost 600 steals. He didn't score a lot, but he made the offense run. Dude was low key insane
